Driver's Education Course of Instruction

Classroom Instruction

Jeffers Driving Academy uses both the In Class and the Online Method of teaching the classroom portion of Driver Education. The In Class portion is 30 hours of in class instruction at the Jeffers Driving Academy Classroom.  Call the office for our next start date.

If you prefer the Online version of class instruction you can begin as soon as  your deposit is received.  When you do the class Online,  you DO NOT need to have your mother drive you to class each night. Do the course work at home on your home computer, iPad, or smart phone. You can work on Drivers Education in the mornings, evenings, or when you’re having trouble falling asleep.

The driving portion of Driver Education is done the old-fashion way….in a real car, with one of our driving instructors. We drive six days a week, and pick up students at our Muncie office, Winchester High School, and Richards Restaurant in Hartford City, Indiana.

Subject areas include, but are not limited to:

  1. Subject matter relating to rules and regulations of operating a motor vehicle

  2. Safe driving practices

  3. Pedestrian safety

  4. Driver responsibility

  5. Accident reporting

  6. Mental attitudes and physical characteristics of individuals as related to the operation of a motor vehicle

  7. Maintenance of an automobile

  8. Handling of driver emergencies

  9. Driving skills

  10. Signs, signals, highway markings, and highway design features which require understand for the safe operation of a motor      vehicle.

Practical (Behind-the-Wheel) instruction

Six hours of Behind-the-Wheel (practical) Instruction to include the demonstration of and actual instruction in stopping, starting, turning, backing, parallel parking, and steering in a dual controlled vehicle which meet the standards prescribed by the Commissioner and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Additional hours of practice may be purchased.

Course Price 

30 Hours In-Person Classroom, 6 Hours Driving Instruction from Muncie = $400.00 (with payment arrangements) or $370.00 when paid in full at time of registration. Student must receive a passing grade, be 16 and 90 days old, and have held a permit 180 days, per the State of Indiana for students to take the driving test with their school.

30 Hours Online Class, 6 Hours Driving Instruction from Muncie = $400.00 (with payment arrangements) or $370.00 when paid in full at time of registration. Student must receive a passing grade, be 16 and 90 days old, and have held a permit 180 days, per the State of Indiana for students to take the driving test with their school.

30 Hours Online Class, 6 Hours Driving Instruction from your School or City (Winchester, Hartford City)  add $50.00 = $450.00 (with payment arrangements) or $420.00 when paid in full at time of registration.  Student must receive a passing grade, be 16 and 90 days old, and have held a permit 180 days, per the State of Indiana for students to take the driving test with their school.
